Featuring the following acts and participatory events:

A short live performance based on love by dance troupe Trip the Dark Fantastic.

A talk on love with Chris Bucci, creator of the notorious Oregon Heart Sticker.

Skype conversation with the Love Artist Kathe Izzo, who travels the world as lover, writer, healer, participator, aesthetic & pulmonary revolutionary. She has committed herself, through her original True Love Project, to love the world "one person at a time for one hour, one day, one afternoon or early morning" to the best of her ability "unconditionally and with unmitigated passion" in continuous art and ceremonial settings since 2001. www.schoolofinvisiblearts.com

Speed Ideating with Ariana Jacobs: brief participatory facilitated conversations, where we will discuss our curiosities, questions and beliefs surrounding love.

Eat baked goods and drink kombucha, made with love by Ariel Kempf, Crystal Baxley and Ally Drozd.

Project Grow’s Community Jam Session installation: Documentation of a ‘sheltered workshop’ facility for adults with intellectual disabilities local fruit tree gathering event, all who attended made fruit jam as an act of love.

About Public Social University

Public Social University began in 2008 as a collaborative project in Harrell Fletcher's Art & Social Practice class at Portland State University. The first three Public Social University events were loosely organized forums for idea and skill sharing at Portland Oregon's Central Public Library. In 2009, Public Social University organized free/all ages events in Portland art galleries: Food, Water, Apocalypse, Friendship, Healing, and Oral Histories, presenting attendees with the best array of workshops, discussions, presentations and activities on the respective themes as possible. Culled from Portland's rich community, artists, experts, and academicians alike volunteered their time, knowledge and energy. Additionally, Public Social University Co-Directors Rozzell Medina and Judy Fleming installed exhibits in Portland's MK and White Galleries, organized a free/all ages community event in San Francisco's Dolores Park, and won November's STOCK Grant.

Upcoming Events/Get Involved and Stay Involved!

Public Social University has learned a lot from its presenters and enthusiasts, and like them, we are anxious to change and grow!

In 2009, we focussed the majority of our time, effort, and love on organizing themed free/all ages events in art galleries. We still have several themes we want to explore via this format and variations thereof. We are also interested in making other kinds of great things happen.
